A Daintree River cruise is a journey into the wild and no one does it better than the Daintree River Cruise Centre, on their Ultimate Wildlife Experience Cruise. This 60 to 90 minute guided tour takes you deep into the heart of crocodile country, gliding through the still waters of the Daintree River with a high success rate for spotting estuarine crocs. This is a thrilling way to get up close to these ancient predators, in a safe and respectful way. Seeing them in their native habitat is spine-tingling. During the cruise your guide shares expert insights into the river’s unique ecosystem, pointing out birdlife, snakes and other creatures along the way. Cruises depart throughout the day, with morning sessions perfect for cooler temps and active wildlife. Time for you to get your hands on the action with a visit to Hook-A-Barra at Wonga Beach, giving you a unique experience with one of Australia’s most iconic sportfish, the Barramundi! Their 2.5 hour Fishing and Farm Combo Tour gives you the opportunity to take a behind the scenes tour of a working saltwater barramundi farm, learning about sustainability and if the timing is right, watching a hand harvest. Then it’s your turn, grab a rod and try your luck at the Barra Pond. These fish are famed for their power, fight and flavour and are prized by chefs and anglers alike. Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned fisher, you’ll have the chance to hook a trophy-sized barra, with some over 1 metre long. After the action, sit back and enjoy a gourmet tasting platter featuring award-winning barra done three ways.
